ABOUT AILEEN
Hi! I'm Aileen ("Eye-Lean") but you can call me Beanie if you'd like - a childhood nickname that has always stayed close to my heart. I was born and raised on the ancestral and unceded lands of the Nuuchu (Ute), Hinono’ei (Arapaho), and Tsistsistas (Cheyenne) in Colorado where I still live with my hubby and three fur babies.
My own journey with yoga began over a decade ago, and it has been a powerful tool for cultivating deep connection to myself. After being diagnosed with bipolar at 17 and experiencing sexual assault at 19, I didn’t realize how disconnected I had become from my body. Through years of consistent yoga practice, I gradually began to reconnect with myself and feel more in control of my life. Before long, I felt a strong call to dive deeper into yoga, guided by the hope of helping others foster more meaningful and compassionate relationships with themselves through its wisdom.
As a certified Therapeutic Yoga Teacher with additional certifications in Pain Care Aware, Trauma-Sensitive and Accessible Yoga, I provide private 1:1 yoga therapy sessions to anyone looking for a more personalized yoga practice. I help individuals manage health conditions, reduce symptoms, and improve overall physical, mental, and emotional well-being, tailoring practices to specific needs and goals. I also offer community yoga classes where I aim to provide a safe and supportive environment for students to explore the benefits of yoga and learn a little more about themselves along the way.
I believe that everyBODY—of every ability, size and lived experience—deserves to experience the benefits of yoga in a safe and supportive environment.
WHAT IS
YOGA THERAPY?
Yoga is a scientific system of self-investigation, self-transformation and self-realization that originated in India. The yoga tradition views humans as a multidimensional system that includes all aspects of body, breath, mind, intellect and emotions and their mutual interaction. The practices of yoga traditionally include, but are not limited to, asana (physical postures), pranayama (breathwork), meditation, mantra, chanting, mudra, ritual and a disciplined lifestyle.
Yoga Therapy is the professional application of the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship that includes personalized assessment, goal setting, lifestyle management, and yoga practices for individuals or small groups.
The goals of yoga therapy include eliminating, reducing or managing symptoms that cause suffering; improving function; helping to prevent the occurrence or reoccurrence of underlying causes of illness; and moving toward improved health and wellbeing. Yoga therapy also helps clients/students change their relationship to and identification with their conditions.
